Moron Amber Portwood Ordered to Quit Freeloading Off Government Housing

Teen Mom star Amber Portwood has been ordered by a judge to pay money to compensate the real estate company that was suing to evict her. Why?

For lying about her income and qualifying, illegally, for government subsidized housing as a result of that lie. Some people will do anything for a buck.

While Portwood was in jail this winter, a rental company sued her for eviction after they saw she lied about her "low-income" status on her application.

Amber's income in 2010? A modest $280,000.

This disqualifies her from subsidized government housing, clearly, and an Indiana judge ruled in the rental company's favor in the case earlier this month.

Amber Portwood not bothering to respond to the suit probably didn't help her cause. She must pay the company back or face further legal consequences.

Otherwise it's back to the slammer, most likely, given that she's been on thin ice with probation as it is. At least jail is free, however. Food for thought.

Kiip Extends Developer Fund Deadline, Sweetens Pot With Services And Advisors

kiip logoFor game developers who thought about applying for the $100,000 Build Fund from rewards network Kiip but didn't get around to it yet ? good news! The deadline has been extended from today until May 30. And for those of you who weren't planning to apply, well, the company is adding some features to the fund that may entice you. The goal is to encourage the creation of games that incorporate Kiip's reward programs in their initial designs (rather than adding them later). Twenty developers are supposed to receive $5,000 in cash (adding up to $100,000 in all) ? it's not a huge amount of funding, but CEO Brian Wong says it could make a real difference to an independent developer.

Sony's Alpha A37 and NEX-F3 pose for the camera, reveal more angles, details

Sony's Alpha A37 and NEX-F3 pose for the camera, reveal more angles, details

Well, well, talk about déjà vu! It was just yesterday that a corner of Sony's 16.1 megapixel NEX-F3 leaked onto the interwebs and now more photos have surfaced, along with a previously unannounced shooter, the Alpha A37 SLT. The pictures come courtesy of Yang Canggih, which says it had a chance to demo the two devices yesterday at Sony's Partner's Conference in Jakarta (curiously, the NEX-F3 post isn't live as of this writing, but Sony Alpha Rumors has the images up). Starting with the F3, the mirrorless camera has lost a smidgen of the curves found on its older sibling, the C3, adopting a slight bit of the angular edges that once made the NEX-7 the badass standout in the lineup. You'll notice that the shutter button and grip have an uncanny resemblance to the 7's, not to mention that it's clearly gained a pop-up flash -- a first for the lower-end NEXs. Past that, the rumored -- and self-portrait friendly -- 180 degree tilt-screen is also present, which'll likely give the C3 an edge over its siblings when it comes to composing shots. Also worth note, some of the buttons on back have been slightly repositioned.

Moving along, those hoping for a successor to the A35 will apparently have their wish granted with the 16.1 megapixel A37. According to Yang Canggih, it features the articulating display from the last generation of NEX cams, Auto Portrait Framing (first introduced with the A57), four more effect modes than the A35 (up from 11) and an ergonomic grip in the vein of the A77. Sadly, that's about all that's currently known, so hopefully we'll get an official introduction to the cameras soon. Head past the break for a shot of the A37 and then check out the links below for even more of both.

Ask Engadget: best 'money is no object' laptop?

Image

We know you've got questions, and if you're brave enough to ask the world for answers, here's the outlet to do so. This week's Ask Engadget inquiry is coming to us from Chris, who simply has too much money to blow on a super-laptop. If you're looking to send in an inquiry of your own, drop us a line at ask [at] engadget [dawt] com.

"I sold my business and I want to replace my laptop [HP Pavilion G6] with a completely unreasonably expensive top of the line machine. I want it to do everything I do (gaming, coding, web design) all at the same time. Apart from the fact I need two hard drive bays, I'm completely open-minded, so what should I be buying? Thank you!"

Quell your gnashing teeth, members of the 99 percent, he's done well for himself and now he needs our help. We were able to trick out an Alienware M18x to full capacity for $6,700 -- with an over-clocked 4GHz Intel Core i7 CPU, 32GB of RAM, two 2GB NVIDIA GTX 675M GPUs in SLI mode and 1.2TB of SSD RAID storage. That's the benchmark, folks: who out there can find something more powerful?

George Zimmerman Raises $200K For Legal Defense

George Zimmerman, the former neighborhood watch volunteer accused of murdering Trayvon Martin, has raised at least $200,000 online to fund his defense.

Donors contributed "just over $200,000" on a website to help pay for the defense of Zimmerman, who was released on bail earlier this week, his lawyer said.

Mark O'Mara added that the site, therealgeorgezimmerman (dot) com, has since been shut down for unknown reasons and Zimmerman remains in hiding.

George Zimmerman Free on Bail

Zimmerman is living in an undisclosed location as he awaits trial on charges of second-degree murder in the February shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

The killing, which took place as Martin walked unarmed through a gated community in the central Florida town of Sanford, has gained national attention.

Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty and says he killed Martin in self defense. In a stunning move, he apologized to Martin's family at his bail hearing.

The sensational case has prompted civil rights protests and a national debate over guns, self-defense laws, racial profiling and media bias in America.

O'Mara told CNN that he would inform the judge in the case of the funds he has raised on Friday. No date has been set for his official arraignment.

Ikea cardboard digital camera: when Instagram isn't authentic enough

Ikea cardboard digital camera: when Instagram isn't authentic enough

Forget TVs. Want something more whimsical and lo-fi than Instagram? This is a digital camera made of cardboard that Ikea included with its press kit at this year's Milan Design Week. It runs on two AA batteries (Ikea-branded, natch) and features a swing-out USB plug, viewfinder cutout, shutter key and paperclip-friendly erase button. While there are no details on the sensor, lens or storage capacity, the camera holds up to 40 pictures. It's expected to land in Ikea stores at some point but exact pricing and availability are still a mystery. No matter -- this camera is sure to impress hipsters everywhere (and yes, that includes us).

Leaked T-Mobile docs give ICS update schedule for Sensation 4G, Galaxy S II, and Amaze 4G

Sensation 4G

TmoNews got their hands on a leaked enterprise calendar from T-Mobile corporate, and tucked in the rest of the news was the proposed dates for the Ice Cream Sandwich rollout for the Samsung Galaxy S II, the HTC Sensation 4G, and the HTC Amaze 4G. I won't tease:

Of course things like this are subject to change, but the time frame sounds about right. Be on the lookout for ROMs to leak, we sure will be.

Report: Microsoft revealing Xbox 'Woodstock' music service at E3

We are stardust. We are golden. And we've got to get ourselves back to the Xbox. According to some anonymous-type sources over at The Verge, Microsoft is set to continue its shift away from Zuneland into the world of Woodstock -- that's reportedly the codename of a new Spotify-like service set to make its debut at this year's E3. According to the reports, the tiny yellow bird of a service will work across platforms (think Windows 8, iOS, Android and, of course, the Xbox, amongst others), thanks, at least in part, to browser-based functionality. The service is said to be set to launch later in the year, around the same as some key MS operating systems.
